Things are starting to accelerate here at GameCity towers, with the July 1st launch just around the corner and a host of news and site updates on the way - you'd think over the next few months we'd be taking it easy and focussing on the core tasks in hand. However, the unbridled child-like enthusiasm of the GameCity family cannot be contained by mere common sense - and as such there are a number of events we're at in the next few weeks which we'd LOVE you to come along to.
First, core GameCity family member, videogame consultant and recognised good citizen Margaret Robertson will be chairing an on-stage discussion around James Harkin's new book 'Cyburbia'. It's all taking place as part of the Broadway Media Centre's awesome new festival ScreenLit which features an amazing programme and a truly spectacular headline guest*. Joining Muggsy on stage will be close-friend of GameCity, creative director of Crytek UK and (most importantly) creator of Resident Evil : LIVE, Rob Yescombe - along with Christine White, Narrative and Interactive Arts expert from NTU and Mr Harkin himself. This is a brilliant opportunity to get an insight into a fascinating new book, AND see three friends of the festival in full-flight on-stage. GET YOUR TICKETS HERE!!
You can expect more from Ms Robertson in the very near future on these pages, as the delicious burden of keeping you up to date on festival developments is discretely transferred onto the work-schedule of others. Infact, in the next week, I'll make an effort to introduce you to the other folks who are working on the show this year. Y'know, just so you feel somehow closer...
*Paul Schrader!! Seriously! PAUL SCHRADER!!! PAUL! SCHRADER!
