GameCity5 Jam

Come and make games!

THIS JUST IN!

The brilliant Richard Brooksby of Otterly is doing something awesome at GameCity5…

At game jams, people get together and make video games in a limited time, with a surprise theme. We make complete, playable games, working individually, or in small groups, starting from scratch. The results are shown round and shared on the Internet.

It’s enormous fun and a great way to learn and gain skills!

At this year’s GameCity festival (26th-30th October 2010 in Nottingham) there will be two jams: a three hour jam and a 24 hour jam. (You’re not expected to work for 24 hours solid.)

EVERYONE IS WELCOME! We’d especially like to introduce jamming to people who haven’t jammed before, so come along and have a go. If you’re an experienced jammer or game maker, please come along too. Perhaps consider teaming up with a newbie.

Strawberry Jam

2:00pm on Tuesday 26th October
Antenna
and after, on to the GameCity opening event at 6pm!

Blackcurrant Jam

6pm Friday 29th October
Crowne Plaza Hotel (open all 24 hours)
and after, on to the GameCity closing party in the bar

Space is limited to 40 people, so please sign up using this form! You’re also welcome to turn up on the day and join in, but we might not have room for you with everyone else.

We’ll have WiFi and power, but bring your own tools: laptops and whatnot. Refreshments will be available. Nottingham is nice.

If you’d like to see what jams can do, take a look at the games from previous jams at Cambridge Indies . Or enjoy the results of the regular 48-hour “Ludum Dare” jams.

If you want to prepare, try out some game making tools. There’s a great list here!
