Saturday brings GameCity 3 to a storming close. Check out the FULL PROGRAMME here so you can pace yourself and remember, it’s technically not over until they throw you out of the Press Play on Tape gig. Highlights? You got it…
The truth is we expect you to be feeling a little shaky by now, but weʼre not letting up. The run of amazing game retrospectives continues with a first-hand account of the creation of the first Grand Theft Auto, courtesy of Brian Baglow. And weʼll be expecting whoops and most probably hollers as current kings of the gaming world, Media Molecule, take the stage to deliver their BAFTA keynote on the experience of making the ground-breaking, 10/10-getting Little Big Planet. Our final From The Desk Of… comes to you from an incredibly exciting game developer, whose extraordinary work has changed peoples expectation of what games can do. Problem is, heʼs so incredibly exciting that if we told you ahead of time, youʼd almost certainly burst, so weʼll confirm exactly whoʼll be answering your questions on the day itself. And if all that wasn’t enough, we’ll also be launching the Save The Videogame campaign, a key part of the foundation of the National Videogame Archive.
Further expanding your mind, regardless of how fragile itʼs feeling, will be our final lunchtime curry session, in which Tom Armitage takes a look at how things will look once Gamers Rule The World - and itʼs only a matter of time before they do. And then head back in the evening for the Guardian Gamesblog closing pub quiz: guaranteed to be actually good. And then it’s time for another monumental party - actually, a Monumental party - with music from Press Play On Tape and Powerplay.
Head on over to our ticket-o-matic to grab a pass for Saturday - or the whole festival - right now!.
Saturday is world record day in Market Square, as Guinness World Records: The Videogame comes to town. Drop by all day for a chance to play the new game, win some prizes, and set some virtual world records. And, if playing fantastic games makes you want to make fantastic games, then head over to Waterstone’s Room At The Top gallery, where some of the greatest minds in gaming are there to answer your questions about starting a career in the games industry. And if that isn’t enough, we’ll have a very special 25th birthday party for a very special gaming hero - and the birthday boy and a very close friend of his are turning up in person. Don’t miss a chance to make every gamer’s dream come true.
